This CDKN-funded project aims to support the Government of Rwanda (GoR) to mainstream climate change into the key economic sectors, address the related lack of capacity of government representatives to implement climate policy, access climate finance and to climate-proof investment decisions - aligning national top-down strategies and ambitions with bottom-up development needs at local levels.

The support included the development of proposals to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), to the national climate fund (FONERWA) as well as assistance with the direct access application process and requirements of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Rwanda as an accredited National Entity to the GCF. This technical advisory project contributes to the ability of the GoR to take a leadership role around key issues such as climate compatible human settlements, sustainable energy and infrastructure. It also increases and supplements technical expertise in the GoR to implement the Green Growth and Climate Resilient Strategy.
